The Interview
You'll find that interviews are carried out in many ways. Even within the one company, managers will have different interview styles and may even follow different interview techniques. A manager may have one style when interviewing candidates for a contract vacancy and another style when interviewing to fill a permanent vacancy.
In any event, you have to be prepared. Now that your resume has done its job, the rest is up to you. Remember that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression.
Our consultants will help you prepare for the interview, but you're the one being interviewed and you're the one who needs to do some homework.
One of the things you can do is to find out some information on the company. Apart from obtaining some business oriented information you should understand something about the vacancy and the business unit to which it belongs, something about the work the unit does and the way it undertakes it.
See if you can get some background on the interviewers and how they might be approaching the interview. Your recruitment consultant is the best source of this information.
Credibility is the most important impression to create during an interview. This is accomplished by being honest, confident, enthusiastic, courteous, and inoffensive. Speak in a manner that is natural for you; if you have memorised some technical details, deliver them in a conversational manner, not as if reading from a list.
Avoid slang or careless language ( "like", "real cool", "right on" etc.) and nervous bridges between statements such as ("so he goes", "well", "umm", "you know", etc.)
Memorise the interviewer's name, and be sure to pronounce it correctly when addressing him/her. Keep good eye contact; it speaks volumes for your character.
